2025 Girls with Grit – Trade Taster

What they got back

Fifteen young women rotated through trade worksites across our region one day a week for eight weeks. Hosting employers reported: pre-screened candidates with verified interest, several follow-on work experience placements within 6 months, and direct visibility of young women considering trades who would not otherwise have walked onto their worksite. One participating host has since taken on a Girls-with-Grit graduate as an apprentice.

What other employers can learn from this

Multi-employer cohort tasters are the highest-yield Later-horizon engagement available to small trade businesses. You don't host alone, you don't carry the prep cost alone, and the cohort effect lifts the quality of every participant. Strongly recommended for sole-trader and small-team trade businesses that want pipeline visibility without the overhead of running their own engagement program.
